How we met the producer: the story of Ellada
It all started with a trip. In 2019, we left our old lives behind to travel the world in search of exceptional products. We didn't yet know that a detour through Greece would change the course of our journey.
A meeting among the olive groves
While exploring the hills of the Peloponnese, lined with olive trees sometimes centuries old, we crossed paths with a local producer. It wasn't a business meeting: it was an encounter, over a glass of his oil, at his family estate in Messenia. He told us about his craft, passed down through generations, and his commitment to a production method that had stayed artisan: no chemical products, hand-picked harvest, cold extraction carried out on site.
A moment of clarity
That day, it became clear: this oil deserved to be known beyond Greek borders. Its intense, fruity taste, typical of Koroneiki olives grown on the region's limestone slopes, was unlike anything we had tasted before.
That's how the name Ellada was born — the Greek word for Greece — as a tribute to this land and this know-how we wanted to share further afield.
Supporting human-scale production
Since then, we've been importing and distributing oil from this same producer, always respecting his method and pace of production (between 8,000 and 12,000 litres a year). Choosing Ellada means supporting this artisan farming over industrial production — and travelling, if only for the length of a meal, to the sun-drenched olive groves of the Peloponnese.
